Africa today is offering many opportunities in the sector of the Renewable Energy, especially in the Solar Photovoltaic. The majority of the African Countries signed the Kioto Protocol in order to respect the environment, so they are engaged to produce at least 20% of clean energy.
Convivium Africa is an umbrella organization promoting the realization of Solar Projects in Africa, in particular it is working in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Ghana and The Gambia.
The different Governments are available to guarantee, through the public Utilities, the acquisition of all the energy produced by the private Investors at a fixed tariff, so that Investors can find the suitable finance for the single project.
Finding the Land near the substation and the electrical grid, where to install the Solar Plant, is one of the biggest problem to solve in this Continent.
Many Companies from all over the world are now working in Africa to realize this kind of Plants, that are increasing every year and, of course, the costs are proportionally decreasing.
Convivium Africa signs an agreement with the different Government and after that identifies the best Company to realize it; managing the project from the beginning up to the end.
Africa has a Solar Irradiation at least 40% higher than Europe, so it is really an ideal area where to build the Solar Plant with zero pollution.
In this period of world crisis, it is very important to keep relationship with the different Governments in Africa, also taking in consideration the total absence of all the multinationals companies.

The Gambia is a very small , but very strategic, Country.
After several missions, Convivium Africa succeeded in finding the way to be addedAs a consequence, in the development Projects of the Government. Thanks to its relationship, the Airport Authority asked Convivium Africa to build a 1 MW Solar Plant in the Airport of Banjul, to support the local network.
Moreover, the local public Utility, NAWEC, is interested in developing 20 MW of Solar Energy.
Convivium Africa had already started a very long relationship with NAWEC in the last years, but the political situation didn’t allow to take off with a Project; today the situation is changing for the best.
Concretely the 1 MW Project for the Airport Authority could be the key to be introduced in the Country today.
Amount spent update by Convivium: USD 190,00

The first 20 MW Project will be located at Osukuru Sub County, Tororo District, near the border of Kenya. Convivium Africa already organized several technical missions to Uganda to survey the area.
Convivium Africa is now negotiating to secure the Land near Tororo Substation with the capacity to evaquate up to 20 MW coming from the Solar PV Plant.
Convivium Africa already started negotiation with ERA (Electricity Regulatory Authority) for getting all the necessary authorizations to develop the above Project.
A local Partner has already been identified and local Consultants have been appointed.
